M.52.NMIUuDSV - Documentation from the National Museum of the History of Ukraine during World War II in Kyiv

 History of the Archives:

The idea regarding the establishment of a Museum of the History of World War II was born already in 1943 but its construction was delayed until the 1970s. An important stage on the way to the establishment of the museum was an exhibition held in April 1946, called "The Ukrainian Partisans' Struggle against the Nazi Occupiers". In early 1950 the documentation from the exhibition was transferred to the State Historical Museum, and in 1970 a team for the establishment used this documentation as a basis for the future museum. An event for the dedication of the "Ukrainian State Museum for the History of the Great Patriotic War during 1941-1945" was held in the Klovsky palats (Klovsky Palace) on 17 October 1974. The museum's new building was dedicated on 09 May 1981. By order of the President of Ukraine, the museum became the National Museum in 1996. By order of the Ministry of Culture, the museum's name was changed in 2015 to the National Museum for the History of Ukraine during World War II.

Included in the collection are anti-Nazi announcements and newspaper articles of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine - TSK KP(b)U, as well as anti-Nazi announcements and newspaper articles of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine and the Communist Party regional committee of the Kharkov, Poltava, Kirovograd and Dnepropetrovsk regions, directed toward the population in the occupied areas; documentation of the Jewish partisans, B. Mindich, I. Shklovski and S. Shvartsman, who were active in occupied Ukraine during the war.
