Contains of a memoir written by Chris J. Battersby on an unknown date, describing his experiences with a Holocaust survivor near Gardelegen, Germany, in April 1945. Also includes an excerpt of a unit history for the 102nd Infantry Division relating to the Gardelegen Massacre. During World War II, Chris J. Battersby served with the U.S. Army's 102nd Reconnaissance Troop, which was attached to the 102nd Infantry Division; he and some other soldiers from this division reonnoitered the environs of Gardelegen, Germany, on or about 15 Apr. 1945.
