Armando and Mathilde Starkand papers
Armando Starkand was born in Warsaw, Poland, on July 16, 1902. He had a daughter, Lillian Starkand, who was born in Mainz, Germany, on October 27, 1929. On April 20, 1937, he married Mathilde Sucher, originally of Essen, Germany (b. April 29, 1910). In 1937, the family immigrated to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to escape Nazi persecution. In 1949, they immigrated to the United States, settling in Nashville, TN. Armando Starkand passed away in 1988; Mathilde passed away in 2006. Consists of a birth certificate, identity cards, naturalization certificates, and passports for Armando and Mathilde (née Sucher) Starkand. The collection includes pre-war German and Argentinian identity documents, and post-war documents in the United States.
