Olga Warburg was born in Hamburg (b. Nov 17 1898), the eldest of five children of Abraham Samuel (Aby S.) Warburg and his second wife Elly Jeanette. She married Friedrich Lachmann in 1919 but divorced in 1931. She spent the duration of the Second World War in semi-hiding in Amsterdam, where she wrote extensive memoirs about her childhood in Hamburg and her family history.

Examines Warburg's scholarly work in relation to his lifelong concern with antisemitism. As a student in Germany in the 1880s he was aware of the antisemitism around him; as a Jew he could not hope to become a reserve officer (the key to advancement) or a university professor. He considered making it his life mission to "solve the Jewish question". The problem worsened during and after World War I. ...

Consists of 59 post-war photographs taken at the Warburg children's home in Blankenese, Germany. Most are pictures of children living in the home; some are identified by Ann Bicky [donor].

This typescript report gives an account of the activities of the <em>Sekretariat Warburg</em>, a charitable institution, whose objective was to assist Jews in Hamburg during the Nazi era and was funded by the Warburg banking family. The author is Robert Solnitz, former head of the organisation. It was written in Los Angeles in 1975.
