Ministerstvo hospodářství a práce, Praha

Although the collection is actually a torso of documents from the Ministry of Economy and Labour, it is very important for the study of the occupation's economic and social policy in 1942-1945. Since the arization of Jewish property was largely completed by 1942 and the deportation of Czech and Moravian Jews to the Terezin ghetto and other ghettos and camps in the east began in 1941, most of the Holocaust-related material in this collection concerns Jewish miscegenates or those who lived in marriage with a non-Jewish partner. These include, for example, the employment and employment of persons of Jewish descent and Jewish miscegenates (Box 44, signatures P 1780, P 1781, and P 1789), and the provision of apprenticeships to Jewish miscegenates (Box 432, signature A I-6401). The Ministry of Economy and Labour was established on 15 January 1942 as part of Heydrich's reform of the Protectorate administration. It was formed by merging three ministries - the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Trades, the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Social and Health Administration. The Ministry grew an agenda in the field of war economy related, among other things, to the recruitment of manpower not only for armaments enterprises in the Protectorate and the Reich, but also to the shutdown of enterprises and entire industries in the Protectorate. Walter Bertsch, head of Department V (Economy and Labour) of the Reich Protector's Office in Bohemia and Moravia, became Minister of Economy and Labour, a position he held until May 1945.
