Ministerstvo financí – Londýn

The Ministry of Finance in London was established in 1940 as part of the Czechoslovak Provisional Government Abroad. The London Ministry of Finance was entrusted with the tasks necessary for the day-to-day activities of the state establishment in exile and the preparatory work for post-war reconstruction in the Republic. By the decision of the Interministerial Liquidation Commission abroad, the Ministry of Finance ceased its activities on 30 June 1945, which were transferred to liberated Czechoslovakia. From 1 July 1945, all fonds of the Ministry of Finance were transferred to the administration of the Czechoslovak Embassy in London, which carried out further financial activities abroad until the complete liquidation of the Czechoslovak state establishment in Great Britain. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum has a copy of certain part of the fonds (http://collections.ushmm.org/findingaids/RG-48.015M.pdf). The Ministry of Finance Fonds is a financial and economic fonds. The archival material is a source for the study of, among other things, the issues of financial support for Czechoslovak emigration and Czechoslovak military units in Great Britain, the USSR and the Middle East. Reports from home include some data on the financial, economic and political situation in the Protectorate and Slovakia. For more details on the issue: inv.no. 63, card 131, lists of persons deported to Poland and Terezín, package actions in favour of deported Czechoslovak Jews, negotiations of Czechoslovak authorities abroad on the evacuation of Jews from the Protectorate, requests by their relatives for evacuation (see also Czechoslovak nationals abroad).
